Born and raised in Compton California, Travon Free is a comedian, actor, and writer who takes to the stage with a fearless edge. With his keen and sometimes odd observations, he is willing to not only step up to the line, but is also very willing to cross it to make his point. Not only will you find yourself laughing from his silliness and unapologetic, brutal honesty, he will also leave you thinking and questioning your own place in this mad world. With Razor sharp wit and a dazzling smile, it’s almost impossible to feel offended or threatened by his larger than life presence. Boasting a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and always a top of the class graduate, his undeniable intelligence takes his comedy to a new thought provoking level.
The two time finalist and winner of the Ice House comedy club’s Uncle Clyde comedy contest proved he was born to command an audience from the first time he graced a stage. Looking back on the countless times he would sneak and listen to his mother’s Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, and Bill Cosby albums, this direction in life made perfect sense.
Being a basketball player all his life, winning both a National Championship and two State and CIF titles at California power house Dominguez High school, the sports chapter of his life ended with a division one NCAA scholarship run at California State University Long Beach, where in his senior year as Big West conference and tournament champions, the 49ers took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship tournament. That being said, Travon is no stranger to hard work, winning, and excellence.
The 6’7 245 pound actor and comedian and proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, contributing writer to The Urban Daily, and has been seen on such shows as Chelsea Lately, Tosh.0, Party Down, House, Southland, in various commercials and has been a featuring act for comedy mentor and friend Russell Peters on multiple occasions.

It’s good to know a brother like you exist and I am proud of you and Look forward to working with you one day. Stay relevant, funny and Black. I know God has got your back. Peace and Respect M.
I dont know who you are, and until today I have never heard of you. But you can be SURE I will look for you now, after I read your letter to newt, I am a fan for LIFE. Your wit, and pathos and candor are just a breath of fresh air and reality in this insane political season. Your letter to newt was so spot on, it made me shudder. And your humor at the end , with the mashed potatos line, just floored me. I am going to be passing that on all day. I dont know you but I LOVE YOU already! Never stop, never change, and keep spreading the word of reality and sanity.
Go OBAMA 2012!!!!!
Diane, in Orlando
AMEN
I love the fact that you, a YOUNG Black man, are so current, relevant and incisive. I could be your grandmother and absolutely love your fearless brilliance! I hope that sometime, someplace, I am able to attend one of your appearances. And kudos to your mother!
