What’s Obama done the last Two Years? I’m Glad You Asked

Seriously? about 3/4 of this stuff is from the stimulus package that failed miserably and 1/8 is from the rediculous health reform that also failed miserably. The other 1/8, thats about the only thing he has done any good. Pretty much just the veterans stuff that Bush tried to pass but the dems that controlled congress blocked it until the new guy came in.

So, in other words Obama expanded the federal government. Great! Just what I’ve been waiting for. Wake up Alice you’re in wonderland. Obama is one of the worst Presidents this country has ever had.

You made an important move by discussing what he HAS done instead of what he has not done. I campaigned and voted for him, but I have been a little disappointed by his governing style, more specifically, his attempts to walk the middle line to try to keep everyone happy on both sides of the isle. The fact of the matter is that you can’t keep everyone happy and that he needs to just make a decision as to what he thinks is best and DO IT! I will certainly be voting for him, largely b/c there aren’t any better choices, but partially because I have not fully lost faith in his ability to create a better United States.

All presidents will accomplish something in their terms, that is a given. Overall, his healthcare reform and the “stimulus” have been the main two things that you can pull this info from. Overall, the stimulus was very wasteful and did not improve the economy, if you believe so, please show where you get the improved stats from (everything else shows different). Giving more money for Pell Grants through the AEG credit doesn’t help, when education is hurting. Professors are getting laid off and school dept’s are closing down. Also, when students can drop out, never finish their degree and they do not repay the grant; how does that help America?
Extensions for unemployed have been happening already, so a little more extension is great, but where are the jobs? He gave money for research in science, but I know as a scientist, I have not seen one penny (before my lay-off along with thousands of other teachers/professors in the past 2 years) and a lot was given for private shuttles, yet NASA doesn’t have enough money to keep their main shuttles going. Credit control is great, but also raised the rate for people with lower rates- mine personally went from 9.99 to 11.99 fixed. Healthcare reform was necessary, but he poorly executed it- premiums have already raised for those of us with health coverage, people who do not have coverage will pay a fine, public medical access will without a doubt change the private sector and coverage for the people under it…it is great that people with pre-existing conditions have coverage now and there are no caps, but still tons of flaws. Not to mention, the same man who would not protect human rights of babies born to mothers who abortions failed is now wanting America to fund abortions. Regardless, of your views on abortions, that is pretty twisted. Who wouldn’t stop the killing of babies born alive? Another main issue: President Obama’s appointment of Dr. Donald Berwick as director of the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare during the July 2010 recess has added to the concerns (which he slid in without a senate vote, might I add). In 2008, Dr. Berwick admitted that he is “in love” with the socialized British system of rationed health care. In an interview in 2009, he stated, “The decision is not whether or not we will ration care—the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”“Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.” How is that going to help those who are paying for health care and who make middle-upper class salaries? That means we will be taxed even more and he is seriously looking into the BRITISH system? Really? That system is severely flawed! The French at least is a LOT better! At least in America already you can receive a surgery if you need it in time; try that in Britian. Try to find any doctor who will go under extensive training to become a surgeon for no pay, like they do in Britian; hence a shortage of specialists.

Medicare-the cuts in medicare in the “reform” has already caused multiple doctors across the nation from taking medicare patients. How is that helping them? So reduce their drug costs and allow more people to enroll, yet cut the actual funding to the hospitals and doctors who will see them ($575 Billion cut)? Did you know the Congressional Budget Office sees this causing a drop of 800,000 jobs by the end of the decade?

Overall, a lot is related to the two main issues that people already know about and if they read the stimulus package, which was started before he took office, they would already know about most of this and the medical posts in regards to the healthcare reform.

You forgot to mention he also destroyed and shut down our missile protection overseas; that was something else he did. Something that protected us and other nations abroad. I would really like it now, especially since Russia is building 500 bomb shelters by 2012 and they say they are for a asteroid in 2039 that isn’t supposed to hit the Earth…hmmm. Almost forgot another, he did not renew the tax cuts from Bush’s administration that helped the average tax payer, like using housing taxes, but the House approved giving tax cuts to show horse owners???? Yes, the stimulus gave a lot of low income people help, but what about the main working class? Yes, we do get the making work pay credit, which is great and very helpful; but, we also had the stimulus checks before as well and could use some other deductions that would help the middle class more. I understand the lower income struggle, but so do we as middle income and we all deserve help. Why do I not get EIC? Why do I not get to claim all of my school loans interest? Why do I lose some of my child credit because we make too much (which isn’t a lot)? Why should we have to pay $20K in taxes with three small children with daycare and be taxed at 28%? When I entered one W-2, I made only 1505 and it raised what I owed by $400?! That is just ridiculous. I did recieve the 8K for buying a house last year, but that was government spending at its worst. Someone who is on unemployment is not taxed for the first few thousand, receives money to pay for daycare to find a job, receives free food, children receive free medical, etc…however, I make $1505 and owe an additional $400 to the taxes I already paid just because all my little jobs and my husband’s job add up to a higher bracket?

I agree he has done some great things, but overall, not a great job IMHO. Anyone whose doesn’t know most of this post already, obviously doesn’t not read anything about politics. Also, I know he was handed a lot when he took over, but he hasn’t done a lot to improve our condition, but, he has increased our debt. So, has Obama done “something”? Of course, but has he been an excellent president? Not to all, but I have seen a LOT worse! I think all presidents do things that aren’t the best and they are all imperfect. Most do a crappy job by the end of their term in the views of the majority because no one is ever really happy with the president by statistics. However, this list is just like any list with any prior president. I could do this for all presidents without the huge price tag of the “reformation act” and the bail outs.

I also think people forgot democratics took power all the way back in 2007! Remember, the people under Obama and Bush make most of the decisions and dems have had control for 3 years; in case someone wants to go back that far and blame anything on reps. I think parties are unnecessary anyway.

Overall, medical wise, the ban on stem cell is great and will lead to great discoveries as long as scientists stop getting laid off and education stops getting its funds cut (mainly the GOP who cuts education). Education cuts are at the worst they have ever been under his administration.

In his stimulus package, they give as much money to the National Endowment for the Arts as they do to prevent teacher lay-offs, even though it received $4 billion in grants and an annual pay of 160-180 million. I love the arts and I have been playing the violin for 18 years; however, traditional education is hurting and should be more of a priority.

Yes, he has pushed for more flexfuel and hybrid vehicles, which is great. However, before he stops funding the oil companies, where are the jobs for the people who will be laid off? Here in Louisiana we are already at the bottom for education and have one of the highest unemployment rates. We just had $450 million education cut, we produce over 50% of the nations oil, thus we will have a lot of people unemployed; our unemployment rate is already 14%…what next? Unemployment is at a all time high under Obama, over 9% nationwide and I am seeing more lay-offs in all directions, yet no job growth :/

Don’t ask don’t tell was great because it will actually save the government billions and allow freedom of sexual preference; however, might cause more problems in the future…this is one that is still a positive in my book.

Recovery.gov has spent millions in remodeling it their own website, yet hasn’t shown much information. Has shown to be a waste so far to many people. Where are all the documents? The information is very vague. They show jobs that they say have been created by the stimulus, but never mention the other job losses that have and will occur do to other laws; very biased. The reports should cover everything. Also, the last quarter covers early 2010 and we know unemployment has doubled since the Bush administration.

Let’s not even cover the bail outs; I would be here for a while.

    • Kim for President says:

Did you know that some of the most important bills Obama has proposed has been shut down by Congress, primarily because of the republicans because they don’t want to see Obama in office for a second term. So, if not Obama, who would be your choice to save America? One of the republicans running presently? Nobody else is qualified for the job, unless if you want to run for president.

    • Gina I. says:

You don’t repay grants. You repay loans. I’ve worked in financial aid for over a decade and you are just another person who doesn’t at all understand the financial aid programs available to students, so therefore you think its not important or impactful. WRONG. Pell Grants are for the very lowest income level families, whose children simply would not be able to afford any college on their own. It is a grant and does not need to be repaid. The Pell Grant allotments have risen in teeny, tiny increments over the years, until it got a decent boost under the Obama administration. This was an important move, akin to getting a cost of living adjustment in your salary. It was necessary and it made a huge difference to students who truly need assistance to attend college. And yes, colleges are having major issues with their budgets, especially state schools. But those are run by the states, not the federal government, so until the states get their collective shit together, nothing will change on that front. And even in a bad economy, where finding jobs post-college is a challenge, attending college is still by far the best way for most people to achieve future success. It is irrefutable that college graduates will make much more in a lifetime than non-college-graduates, enough to justify the cost to attend even when you’re having to borrow student loans.

An attention-grabbing discussion is price comment. I feel that you need to write more on this subject, it won’t be a taboo subject but usually individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers

I believe you may have missed the point of the post. It wasn’t to go in dept into each individual accomplishment of the president, it was to create a list, a starting point if you will, for people who blindly make the statement “Obama hasn’t done anything”. The links to each of those articles is there for people to do their own research and think for themselves which is what this blog promotes. Also i don’t quite understand what you mean by “individuals arent enough to talk on such topics”. Are you saying people arent smart enough to understand politics? If so its quite the contrary

Wow! This can be 1 of the top blogs I’ve actually arrive throughout on this subject. Merely Magnificent

I am so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.

  11. Fabulous posting bro. This important is just a tremendously nicely structured post, just the critical info I was looking just for. I praise you

possibly the biggest, best thing Obama has done is to not be a (“real”) republican.
and considering how debauched US conservatives have become, another lovely and deserving thing Obama has done for repugs is p*** them off. (Pelosi, Boxer, Sanders, etc do the same.)
